Welcome to the Comparative Interest Group Populations Network

The Comparative Interest Group Populations Network brings together scholars collecting data about interest group populations in a wide variety of countries and at international organizations such as the European Union or the World Trade Organization.

While interest groups play an important role in Western democracies, we still lack data about the population of interest groups that mobilize in different countries and at the European and international level. The Comparative Interest Group Populations Network therefore aims to overcome this shortcoming by bringing together recent and ongoing research projects that collected data on interest group populations in different arenas to provide interested scholars with an overview of existing data sources and research designs and to eventually make the collected data accessible to the wider research community.

You can find further information about the different research projects and the interest group population data collected by the members of the network on this website. In addition, the collected data will be published on this website to stimulate further comparative research on interest group populations.
